    • Light
      Alocasia lutea prefers bright, indirect light, such as from a west or south-facing window. Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.
    • Water
      Water when the top 25–50% of the soil is dry. Water until water flows out of the bottom of the pot, then discard any excess water. Avoid overwatering, as Alocasia lutea is susceptible to root rot. You can bottom water to promote deep root growth and prevent overwatering.
  • Temperature
    Alocasia lutea prefers temperatures between 65–85°F, and should be kept away from cold drafts and heating vents.
  • Humidity
    Alocasia lutea prefers high humidity, so you can mist the leaves regularly, use a humidifier, or place the plant in a naturally humid area like a bathroom.
  • Soil
    Use a well-draining, slightly acidic potting mix with added perlite or orchid bark.
  • Fertilizer
    Feed with a balanced fertilizer during the growing season, but don't fertilize in the fall or winter.
  • Toxicity
    Alocasia lutea is mildly toxic to humans and pets, and can cause mouth and stomach irritation and vomiting if ingested. 
    • Alocasia lutea goes dormant in the winter, when light levels and temperatures are lower. During this time, you can keep the plant in a warmer spot and reduce watering, but don't let it completely dry out.
