Philodendron Joepii
🌿 Light:
Loves bright, indirect light. Direct sun can scorch those delicate leaves, but too little light will cause leggy growth. East- or north-facing windows, or a grow light, work great.
💧 Watering:
Let the top 1–2 inches of soil dry before watering again. Keep it evenly moist, but never let it sit in soggy soil. In winter, cut back slightly.
💨 Humidity & Temperature:
Thrives in high humidity (60–80%). It’ll survive in average home humidity but really shines with a humidifier or cabinet setup. Prefers 65–80°F and dislikes cold drafts.
🌱 Soil:
Needs a light, chunky, well-draining mix to support its aroid roots.
-
Tank’s Green Stuff: A good organic base—just add orchid bark, perlite, and a bit of sphagnum.
-
FoxFarm Happy Frog: Rich and ready, but also needs extra perlite or pumice to improve airflow and drainage.
DIY mix: 1 part Happy Frog, 1 part orchid bark, 1 part perlite, optional scoop of charcoal or worm castings for a boost.
🍽️ Fertilizer:
Feed once a month in spring and summer with a balanced or aroid-specific liquid fertilizer (at half strength). No need to fertilize in winter.
🪴 Extra Tips:
It's a slow grower, so patience is key. Give it a moss pole or support to encourage vertical growth. Clean the leaves gently to prevent dust buildup and keep it photosynthesizing at full power.
